The flow switch consists of a paddle system, at the upper end of which there is a permanent magnet. A reed contact is placed above the magnet outside the flow. A second magnet is used to generate a restoring force for the paddle. If the flow to be monitored hits the paddle system, it is deflected. As a result, the magnet changes its position to the reed contact, which is thus actuated. As soon as the flow is interrupted, the paddle moves back to its starting position and actuates the reed contact again. The necessary restoring force is generated by the two repelling magnets. The use of the magnetic force, in comparison to a conventional leaf spring results in a significantly better long-term stability and a significantly higher insensitivity to pressure peaks.
