The flow switch consists of a paddle system with a permanent magnet at the upper end. A reed contact is placed above the magnet outside the flow. A second magnet is used to generate a restoring force for the paddle. If the flow to be monitored hits the paddle system, it is deflected. This changes the magnet's position to the reed contact, which is thus actuated. As soon as the flow is interrupted, the paddle moves back to its original position and actuates the reed contact again. The necessary restoring force is generated by the two repelling magnets. The exploitation of the magnetic force, in comparison to a conventional leaf spring, results in a significantly better long-term stability and a significantly higher insensitivity to pressure peaks.Possible areas of application: heating technology.
